Great idea!!
ReplyDeleteTrouble is it seems rather an exclusive club. For someone like me I who has a ranking around 120 I cant use it!!! :)
When is the top 500 blog button coming out for an amature like mine. :)
The buttons are very nice, however, I won't be using them for our blog.
ReplyDeleteFor a couple of reasons.
1) The NZ Blogosphere is very small. It's not difficult to be in the Christian top 10, because of that smallness.
2) I have a level of discomfort with the whole concept of self-promotion using the Christian Top 10.
However, some sort of NZ Christian blog identity button, without the ranking, I would be happy to have on our site.
I think Ozy is right. It shouldn't be an exclusive group. And as the top 10 shifts around (especially those on the tail end), a person who might be able to have the button on their site one month, might have to take it off the next.
Far better to have something permanent.

You'll get there Ozy :-)

I like them though as since collating the Christian top 10 I have witnessed the number of Christian blogs who identify openly as Christian blogs increase and, in addition, each of them then has climbed the rankings on Tumeke and HalfDone. There are a lot of as yet undiscovered NZ Christian blogs out there and more will be birthed so it may not be as easy to be in the top 10 in time to come. So while I understand your discomfort and to some degree I share it, I like the effect, the way it brings people together and together we help each other grow in a way that previously just linking to one another did not.
ReplyDeleteA permanent identity button is a nice idea - someone should make one...
